Dermal Fillers to Plump Lines and Wrinkles

Over time most people will develop wrinkles and fine lines on the face.

Some wrinkles are caused by contraction of facial muscles which folds the skin and damages it leading to the appearance of surface lines. These wrinkles are usually in the upper face and are usually treated with Botox.

But in the lower 1/2 of the face other process are happening that lead to deeper grooves and folds. Collagen and elastin loss leave he skin more saggy and less firm and lead to deeper lines and wrinkles. Volume loss further deepens these lines to folds. Volume loss also leads to sagging and hollowness in the face. Gravity compounds all of the above effects leading to descent of the facial structures.

These deeper grooves, lines and hollows are usually treated with dermal fillers. Dermal fillers come in a variety of forms and range from temporary to permanent effect. With permanence of the filler, risk increases. The fillers that Dr. Kelly uses are all temporary fillers. Current product lines include Juvederm® and Teosyal®. These fillers are made of hyaluronic acid which is a complex sugar molecule that is normally found in many areas of the body including the skin, the joints and in the eyeballs. Hyaluronic acid molecules are cross linked together giving the filler its longevity and creating products of different consistency and purpose. Your needs and skin will be fully assessed to make the choice of the best dermal filler for you.

Fillers are administered by injection. The discomfort of filler injections is low. Sometimes a topical anaesthetic can be applied beforehand to lessen the discomfort and sometimes injectable anaesthetics similar to those a dentist uses are given. Treatment takes between 10-30 minutes following the anaesthetic typically.

Depending on the area being treated you may have some bruising, swelling and redness lasting from a few hours to a few days. Dr. Kelly will discuss the down time with you at your consultation. She will also ensure there are no contraindications to treatment with dermal fillers and develop a thorough understanding of your treatment goals.

Your initial consultation is free of charge.

Fillers are priced by the syringe. The recommended product and the amount required for your treatment will be discussed at the initial consultaion.
